LEGISLATURE PRESENTS A TELEVISION TRANSFER DAY PROGRAM

St. Thomas–The Legislature of the Virgin Islands is pleased to present a special program entitled, Transfer Day, a Historical Perspective. During this program, various local historians share and highlight varying perspectives of the day and the event that marks the birth of the US Virgin Islands.

Transfer Day is celebrated in the US Virgin Islands every March 31st, marking the day that the territory was formally transferred from Denmark to the United States of America in 1917.  The lowering and rising of flags took place the afternoon of March 31st at 4PM and in keeping with the historical significance of the day, this television special will premiere at 4PM on Viya Channel 26, the Legislature’s Facebook page, and on YouTube. Be sure to tune in and don’t miss it.
