St. Croix—Senate President Novelle E. Francis, Jr. on Tuesday, expressed heartfelt sadness after learning of the death of Virgin Islands radio icon Lee Carle. “Lee Carle was at the forefront on important topics and matters of the day in the U.S. Virgin Islands, which helped in shaping the territory’s political and cultural landscape,” said Senate President Francis.

“During a career that spanned over 60 years, Lee was defined by his news gathering and distinctive voice. He was tenacious, yet personable, and knowledgeable about our community and its people. Lee was exceptional in all his efforts and contributions to our communications industry, and the landscape of news gathering will not be the same.”

“On behalf of the members of the 35th Legislature, I extend condolences to the family and friends of Lee Carle. May the care and love of those around you provide comfort and peace to get you through the days ahead,” concluded Senate President Novelle E. Francis, Jr.
