Committee on Disaster Recovery, Infrastructure and Planning

The Committee on Disaster Recovery, Infrastructure, and Planning has scheduled a meeting for Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 10:00am in the Earle B. Ottley Legislative Hall, on St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

 The committee will receive an update on the following:

• The condition of WAPA’s infrastructure, identifying areas in need of repair or replacement
• The status of ongoing power outages – short and long term strategies for their curtailment.
• Long-term infrastructure improvement plans.
• The state of the Wartsila restart project
• The status of all critical vendor payments
• The status of fuel; both Diesel and LPG
• The status of the Turnaround Company initiative awarded to Ernst & Young

Additional topics will include the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority’s planned, in process, and completed projects; the status of all federal and local funding identified for your agency’s projects, as well as any impediments with respect to the authority’s role in the territory’s disaster recovery efforts.
