ATHNIEL C. “ADDIE” OTTLEY ROAD NAMING CEREMONY

ST. THOMAS- Members of the 34th Legislature, led by Senate President Donna Frett-Gregory, attended the Athneil C. “Addie” Ottley Road Naming Ceremony held at Crown Bay Center
Parking Lot. Ottley served in the 9th, 10th, and 13th Legislatures, and as Lieutenant Governor with the Honorable Governor Melvin H. Evans, the first elected Governor of the U.S. Virgin
Islands. He was also the President and Chief Executive Officer of WSTA 1340-AM, “The Peoples Station.” Ottley died on Thursday, February 10, 2022.

Senator Donna Frett Gregory commended Ottley for his outstanding contributions to the Virgin Islands. “Addie had a unique and distinctive voice that embodied the Virgin Islands. It is fitting
to honor those who have given much of themselves.” Senator Dwayne DeGraff also shared remarks. “Addie is here in spirit. I can see it and I know it.”

The Road Naming Ceremony was based on Bill No. 34-0064- An Act honoring and commending Athneil C. “Addie Ottley for his tireless years of informing and educating the
people on current and past community issues and keeping the radio waves open in time of imminent danger to the community and for naming a roadway in his honor; making a $5,000
appropriation from the District Public Road Fund to the Department of Public Works for signage on the Athneil C. “Addie” Drive. The sign was erected at the bottom of the road leading to
WSTA. The Athneil C. “Addie” Drive begins at the Pueblo Supermarket intersection junction and ends at the school lunch intersection junction, Subbase. Sponsors of the bill are Senators
Dwayne DeGraff, Genevieve Whitaker, Marvin Blyden, and Javan James. Co-sponsors are Senators Carla Joseph and Milton Potter.

The program for the ceremony featured Shayla Solomon as the mistress of ceremonies, Derek Gabriel, Commissioner of Public Works presented welcoming remarks, all musical selections
were sung by Lorna Freeman, Bishop Jerome Feudijo conducted the invocation and the benediction, remarks were shared by Senator Donna Frett-Gregory, Senator Dwayne DeGraff,
Ottley’s Granddaughter Danielle Greenidge, Lieutenant Governor Tregenza Roach, and Governor Albert Bryan, Jr.
