35th Legislature Mourns the Loss of Former Senator Hugo Dennis, Jr.

St. Croixâ€â€Senate President Novelle E. Francis, Jr., during a committee meeting held on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, indicated that he was saddened to learn of the passing of Former Senator Hugo Dennis, Jr., who served two terms in the Legislature.
During his tenure in the Legislature, Dennis served as President and Minority Leader. Upon leaving the Legislature, his leadership and experience were further recognized in his capacity as assistant and then acting commissioner of the Department of Housing, Parks, and Recreation. Additionally, he was the founding president of both the St. Thomas-St. John Federation of Teachers and the Central Labor Council of the Virgin Islands, and a member of the Public Employees Relations Board.
“Former Senator Dennis will be remembered as a leader and dedicated public servant. His commitment to the territory will be sadly missed. On behalf of myself and the members of the 35th Legislature, I extend heartful condolences to the family and friends of former Senator Hugo Dennis, Jr.,†the Senate President concluded.
